Crossmaglen Rangers II 2-12 Thomas Davis Corrinshego 1-8
Friday night witnessed shock, annoyance and disbelief as Thomas Davis left the Oliver Plunkett’s Ground after losing to the home side when they had dominated the game for so long. It is a measure of how far this team has come when losing has hurt so much. Things had started very brightly when referee Paul Boylan had thrown the ball in , the Newry side competed for every ball and although the man in black had awarded a harsh penalty to Crossmaglen, it was the men in black and amber missed it. Thomas Davis responded immediately when a good pass from Deaghlan Jennings fed Jordan King who popped it over the bar for the first point of the game. On the 16mins Thomas Davis doubled their lead through S. Bradley. Cross responded with a point and then a free on 18mins to level the game. On 21mins a great penetrating run from Cathal Trainor led to another S. Bradley point. D. Cinnamond added another point after good work by T. Kane. Moments later a high ball from D. Jennings dropped short in to the Cross goal-mouth ; the goalkeeper hesitated and fumbled the ball and with predatory instincts S. Bradley was in hand to blast the ball to the back of the net . This was immediately followed up with a Jordan King point. Corrinshego were completely on top and in the 26th minute S. Bradley extended the lead to 1-6 to 0-2. A famous victory over the mighty South Armagh club looked inevitable, but to their credit the Rangers rallied and scored a point on 27mins and added another from the resultant kick-out. Shaun Cinnamond was very unfortunate to go down injured and was replace by Conor Loye. Then disaster struck ,Crossmaglen hit the back of the Corrinshego net to haul them back into the game. With a further point from Cross the half –time score was 1-6 to 1-5 in favour of the Newry men.
Although disappointed with their slender lead Gerry O’Reilly’s charges regrouped and started the second half with even greater conviction. This was evident when S. Bradley scored a point from the outside of his boot with only 20seconds on the clock. Cross responded with a fine long range point. The game ebbed and flowed and for those longing on in the stands, this was a very competitive encounter and felt like a championship tie. After winning a breaking ball at midfield Davy Murphy went on a penetrating run and popped the ball over the bar for another point. Cross responded again with another point to have just a point between the sides. Paul Heatley replaced T. Kane and young Lee Courtney came on for D. Jennings. Then the game changer, Ryan Mc William’s fielding has been impressive this season caught a high ball with both hands firmly around the ball, as Ryan came to ground his opponent tried to dislodge the ball from his possession; with both players on the ground wrestling the same ball, the referee throw the ball up, when instead this should have been a free for both Ryan and Corrinshego. To compound the injustice , the resulting throw-up was won by Cross who excellently moved the ball into the forward line only for it to be shot to the back of the Thomas Davis net to lead 2- 8 to 1-8. As much as Corrinshego tried to battle back, Crossmaglen finished the stronger and scored 0-4 in the last 6minutes to leave the score 2-12 to 1-8 in favour of Crossmaglen. Although losing the game, Corrinshego dominated this game for long stretches. This game is another on the up-ward learning curve!

Thomas Davis Corrinshego v St. Michael's Newtownhamilton
The young footballers of Thomas Davis put in an excellent display on Wednesday evening against their Newtown opponents. After trailing in the first half the young boys and girls marked their opponents with great vigour and tenacity in the second half to dominate the period . With a rotation policy in place each player was switched from their original starting position. Ciaran Higgins was always dangerous as the lone attacker and chipped in with 2 goals, while the half-forwards of Michael Mallon and Brian Quinn worked hard throughout. Once again the mid -field combination of Adam Travers and Danny Sheilds proved to be a very effective partnership. Siobhan McKinley gets better with each game and won many difficult balls in defence. One of the highlights of the evening was Gio Fallone making a fantastic catch and hand-passing the ball out of danger. Well done Gio, who only returned to football recently! Caitlinn Mackey and Emmett Dowdall battled bravely in the full-back line, while Eoaghan Lenagh performed well in goals and couldn't be faulted for the Newtown goal. Overall it was another encouraging display from the Thomas Davis boys and girls.

A great performance by the U12s this week against Mullaghbawn. The lads fought for every ball until the final whistle and did the Thomas Davis badge proud. Some excellent performances from Ethan Casey and player of the week Niall Taggart in defence. Points from Ronan casey and Jordan Lennon and a hat trick of goals from Junior Marron keep us in the game but a late couple of goals from Mullaghbawn helped them to victory in the end.
Well done to all involved.
