Newry.ie together with Journalist Paul Welsh plan to interview all the candidates from Newry DEA who put their names forward for the Local Council Elections on 18 May. It still hasn't been confirmed how many people are putting their names forward as nominations don't close until 24 April. The last election was 2 May 2019 and whether much has changed in Newry or nothing has changed with the people you voted in last time is your call.
We would love to hear from the Newry public what questions we should be asking them. You can either add your question/ questions to comments here or email them to news@newry.ie.
Councillors represent you the people so it is only right that you let them know where your concerns and hopes lie. They are responsible for making decisions on behalf of the local community about local services, such as waste collections, tourism and leisure facilities.
Councillors are also appointed to represent their councils or elected members in general, on a number of public bodies.
