Dorsey Emmetts  v Thomas Davis

Thomas Davis Under 8’s got their first taste of league action away at Dorsey Emmetts last Wednesday night. The Midfield duo of Shae Gray & Martin McKinley paved the way for the Thomas Davis squad with some excellent plays & scores showing great skill & determination throughout. In the forwards Toni Fallone, Katie O’Brien, Dylan Gray & Nela Lesniak gained vital possession with Toni chipping in with a well taken goal & Dylan who finished a well executed penalty to the net. In defence Conall Havern & Shay Mallon snuffed out any threat from Dorsey turning defence in to attack with some great solo runs & clearance kicks. An excellent start for the young Newry side.

South Armagh U10  Go-Games League

Dorsey Emmetts  v Thomas Davis

On Wednesday evening the young footballers of Thomas Davis played out a thriller in Dorsey. After a very competitive first half in which both sides traded a goal and a point each, the Newry youngsters took control of the second half and goals from Emmett Dowdall, Michael Mallon, and Jamie Gray  had Thomas Davis on top.  Once again Danny Shields and Adam Travers dominated midfield and both scored some lovely points. Special mention to defenders Siobhan McKinley and Shaun Collins who put in a tremendous  work in full-back line.  Both Liam O’Brien and Brian Quinn stuck to their opponent throughout the game. The game also witnessed the competitive debut of both Ciara Meagher and Molly Mc Kevitt in the famed maroon and white.

On a drizzly Sunday morning Thomas Davis continued with their impressive start to their season with a comprehensive display against the O’ Hanlon’s /Lisummon amalgamated side. From the start the midfield partnership of Adam Travers and Jamie Gray dominated. Michael Mallon added the first score of the game with a lovely point, followed by points from A. Travers and Emmett Dowdall.  St. Joseph’s responded with a goal, but the Newry side counter attacked with a goal through Michael  Mallon. With Siobhan McKinley and Callum Bradley performing heroically in the full back line, Thomas Davis kept picking off point through A. Travers, M. Mallon, J. Gray,  C. Bradley. S. Collins and  B. Quinn never gave up the cause.  While young Eoin Lenagh develops with every game.

Ard Mhaca Under 14 Division 3 Football League

Thomas Davis Corrinshego v St Enda's

2-5  V  6-14

This was the second time in a week playing the amalgamation of St Enda's for our young players, after playing away in the championship last week and although this was a much better performance, unfortunately the result was still the same. After winning their opening fixture, some of our Under 14 footballers have come up against towering players in the opposition teams and this was no different. Conor Lenagh excelled in full back when playing against a giant of a full forward and throughout the start of the season some of our youngest players have been a shining light against some older players, none more so than Sean Dowdall, whose reading of the game belies his tender age.

St Enda's raced into a two point lead in this game, before another young starlet Jamie Gaskin swept a sweet right footed point over the bar for the home side. St Enda's quickly went further ahead scoring a goal and 4 points in ten minutes, before Under 14 Captain Brendan McLoughlin fired over another point, before half forward Oisin Mallon got the first goal for the home side. The away side then scored another goal, Brendan got another point before the half time whistle.

The second half took much of a similar tone with the away side scoring time and again, before Captain Brendan McLoughlin broke through midfield to score a much needed goal. Minutes later Jarlath Jennings got his first point of the campaign before many changes occurred, allowing the away side to take a greater hold of the game, before Brendan McLoughlin scored the home team's final point.

Line up was as follows:

Dean Sheridan, Niall Taggart, Matthew Dowdall, Sean Dowdall, Jarlath Jennings, Conor Lenagh, Brendan McLoughlin, Tiarnan Hanna, Jonjoe Cranney, Matthew Taggart, Karl Treanor, Ronan Casey, Glenn Murray, Bradley Murray, Ethan Casey, Jamie Gaskin, Caolan Mallon and Oisin Mallon.

Thomas Davis Corrinshego v St John Bosco

On Thursday night at the club Thomas Davis' under 14s also got some further football, against an unbeaten Bosco team. The older age difference and missing players in the Corrinshego ranks again told, as the Bosco side showed their experience and took the local bragging rights in this one. Conor Lenagh was the outstanding Thomas Davis player both in defence and up front in the second half, scoring the side's first two points. The other stand out players on the night were Jonjoe Cranney who also scored two points and goal keeper Dean Sheridan who was a safe pair of hands between the sticks, but well done John Bosco on an excellent performance.
