Local Punk Rock Band teams up with Drag Diva for Charity Video Launch

Singer/Songwriter Dean Wright who has been living in Newry for over 20 years but originally from London is set to premier his new video "Street Corners" for dog charity "Lucy's Trust" on September 27th at Bellini's.

The single comes from his recent EP "Spiritual Suicide" that he recorded with his band Dean & Chapter that features well known local sound engineer Jason Varley and Padraic Farrelly on the drums. Lyn McMullan was the drummer on the EP.  His music is self described as Rock/Punk.influenced with an original twist and likened by critics to early REM, Iggy Pop, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Smyths among others. Dean has been performing around Ireland & recently headlined in Scotland.

"Street Corners" is dark, gritty & edgy and fans are excited to see what concept Dean is showcasing in the new video. The song started with a classical guitar riff on a windy coastal hillside in Donegal with a theme well known to blues musicians like his friend Rory Gallagher and "Big Dog" Mercer from Chicago. The launch will also feature guest acts Amy Ryan, burlesque act The Scarlet Belles and award winning singing drag queen Delishus O'Tool from Belfast.

One would not normally encounter a drag diva performing alongside a rock/punk band but Dean's music tells a story of battling your demons to realise your true potential something most of us can relate too, Delishus herself having spoken publicly earlier this year in the Sunday World about her constant struggle with bullying and acceptance.
