Derry to Derrybeg – Doire go Doire Beag

Gaeláras Mhic Ardghail are hosting a remembrance event to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the post Bloody Sunday Civil Rights March that occurred in Newry on 6th February 1972 will take place in the Chapel Street Gaeláras on Sunday 6th February at 12.00 noon for guests and later that day for visitors by prior arrangement (Covid precaution).

The remembrance may be extended for a couple of days should Covid regulations allow and pre-booking will be advised.

Entitled “Derry to Derrybeg – Doire go Doire Beag” it is being organised to remember those who died on Bloody Sunday and as an overdue tribute to the people of the Derrybeg Park housing estate, where the march started, and other Newry estates and districts who hosted thousands of civil rights supporters on the tense weekend following Bloody Sunday.

A temporary web page at WWW.FACEBOOK.COM is currently hosting materials of interest and the organisers are keen to attract reminiscences and items on loan for a small exhibition.
