Newry 2020 are hosting a major public meeting on Wednesday 14th April to discuss the council's proposed Newry City Centre Regeneration Programme, which is currently out for public consultation.
The group, which was formed over seven years ago to promote urban regeneration, stated "This consultation on the future of our city is a hugely important opportunity for people to have their voice heard. It is widely recognised that the Albert Basin Park is the top priority for the people of Newry, but there are lots of other issues that need to be discussed as well.
"Newry is desperately in need of proper investment and regeneration. It is vital that the council's plans, which involve large amounts of public money, reflect the needs and wishes of the community. We need a joined-up vision which takes into account health and well-being, active travel, traffic management, and the redesign of our city post-Covid."
The public meeting will take place via Zoom at 7pm on Wednesday 14th April, and will be chaired by local broadcaster Kevin McAllister. Members of the public who wish to attend or submit questions are encouraged to register online at
DOCS.GOOGLE.COM or via the Newry 2020 or Albert Basin Park Facebook pages.
