New Years Day - New Year’s Jolly Joggers Annual 10k, Emyvale, Co. Monaghan

Esther Dickson had a fantastic road race performance at Emyvale on New Years Day.

Esther continued her trail of podium placings finishing as first female and 10th overall against a competitive field of 169 runners. She also notched a PB of 38:09 Well done Esther.

Saturday 6th January 2019 - Born2Run Tollymore Trail Race

Club Junior, Meadow McCauley competed in the Born2Run Tollymore Trail Race on Saturday.

The 15 year old ran a fantastic 5k race settling into the lead pack of runners against a field of 212.

Tollymore is one of Meadow’s favourite race locations as she enjoys its forest trail and neighbouring mountain terrain.

Meadow challenged young Markethill runner Jodie McMullan throughout the race and was pleased to sprint over the line in 2nd female placing and 14th overall in a time of 22:09 - just 3 seconds behind Jodie.

Joanne McCauley also competed in the 5k finishing as 8th female.

Newry AC athletes hit the Mournes this week to kick off their 2019 training ahead of the new mountain running season.

The Hill & Dales Series, NIMRA and IMRA races are all targets on the Newry AC calendar and the club aims to field a strong squad in 2019.
