Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick held a reception on Thursday 23 February for representatives from Positive Futures to highlight their work in the Council area and celebrate their 21st anniversary.

Positive Futures is a leading Northern Ireland charity and support children, young people and adults with a learning disability, acquired brain injury or autistic spectrum condition.

At the reception, Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick expressed her thanks to staff and volunteers from Positive Futures and said, “The work which Positive Futures does on behalf of people with a learning disability, acquired brain injury or autism spectrum condition, is truly life-changing. We are extremely fortunate to have a Positive Future’s Peripatetic House Support Service operating from Newry and serving adults in our district. Your organisation transforms lives and these services could not survive without the help and support of your dedicated volunteers who assist your highly qualified staff.”

Councillor Gillian Fitzpatrick continued, “Newry, Mourne and Down District Council has as one of its strategic objectives the empowerment and improvement of the capacity of our communities. Organisations such as Positive Futures are vital to our Council in achieving this objective. It is by working together that successful outcomes are achieved and I am particularly delighted that we have with us this evening some of those who benefit from your support.”
