This weekend sees a Giro juniors event at the Albert Basin in Newry as part of the NI Festival of Cycling. It's a FREE event providing cycling proficiency skills for children between the ages of 5 to 12. The programme focuses on four main skills, cornering, pedalling, braking and balance. The event is a great opportunity for children to learn and develop their cycling skills.

Each child needs a a functioning bike and a helmet. For any last minute bike problems Bridge End Bikes will be on hand during the morning. Bridge End Bikes have offered a reduction on helmet prices if you call in this week, just mention Giro Juniors.

The event has been organised by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council and Armagh Down Cycling Club and there will be a few light refreshments for the kids as well as a finishers medal.

The event runs from 10.30am to 12.30pm
