When you think of the name Louis Boyd you think of Newry and when you think of Newry the name Louis Boyd comes to mind.

Sadly Louis Boyd passed away at home today in Newry, just two days short of his 88th Birthday. 

Louis was pre-deceased by his wife Terry and son Damien. He will be sadly missed by his son's Gary, Kieran, Martin, Liam and Adrian and his brother Gerry. 

He opened his first Louis Boyds Store in Newry in 1960 bringing hitherto unseen fashion especially jeans to the young men of Newry and Surrounds and over the years providing many many grooms with their wedding outfit and many others with fashion to impress. 

Other stores followed in the Park Centre, Belfast; The Buttercrane in Newry; Rushmere in Craigavon; the Kennedy Centre, Belfast and of course their worldwide store at

Announcing his death the Louis Boyd facebook page said "His mark on Newry and the wider community of South Armagh and South Down will last for many years to come, as we remember a husband, father, brother, grandfather, uncle, cousin, colleague, mentor and friend."

Requiem Mass for Louis will take place at 12 noon on Wednesday 21 July in the Church of the Sacred Heart, Cloughoge with the funeral procession leaving the family home on Heslip's Lane at 11.15 am.

House is strictly private due to Covid-19 regulations.

The Louis Boyd stores are still family run and all stores will be closed on Wednesday as a mark of respect. pass our sincere condolences on to the family and friends of Louis.
