Dairy brand Dale Farm has announced ‘Granda Joe’ Parr, as a winner of its recently launched Sharing Goodness initiative, a six-week acts of kindness campaign to recognise all the good things happening in local communities.

After receiving thousands of nominations, Granda Joe  from Hilltown was chosen as a winner following a number of heart-warming entries from his family and friends.

Joe’s children and Grandchildren were blown away by how he adapted to changes in daily life during the Pandemic.

“Granda Joe is an incredible friend, brother, dad and granda for the whole country. Throughout lockdown, he worked hard to support his family and community by mending ditches, building houses and helping vulnerable family and neighbours. If anyone needed a helping hand, Joe was there”

Speaking about Granda Joe, his Daughter Lisa said "We wanted him to lockdown with us, just so that we could get him some good dinners and simply look after him, keep him safe during the pandemic, but the young fella wasn’t worried! "

Joe embraced everything, pottered about his own home, mended ditches, helped his brother build a jetty and a bar down in Rostrevor, daily drivebys to visit his friends who were shielding, building houses, helping isolating family and neighbours, taking part in online Zoom Bingo you name it! Joe Parr is one in a million.

Dale Farm will be sending Joe some branded outerwear so he can continue his hard work in style. At Joe’s request, they will also be delivering some Dale Farm ice-cream to his grandchildren and their schools, St Paul’s Primary School, Cabra and St Patrick’s, Hilltown*.

Reflecting on the campaign, Aisling Bremner, Dale Farm said:

"It’s been an incredible campaign so far– we’ve received thousands of nominations and heard countless stories of generosity and all-round goodness and we’re not even halfway there yet. Joe’s inspirational story really stood out to us and we thought he truly deserved the recognition for his resilience and support for his family over the past year.”

On their mission to share goodness with local communities, for the next three weeks Dale Farm will continue to share the goodness in our community. Dale Farm is giving away £500 worth of prizes every week as they uncover good stories and good deeds. Nominate yourself or someone else by visiting WWW.SHARINGGOODNESSEVERYDAY.COM – from healthcare workers, young volunteers and community workers to good neighbours, fantastic farmers and family heroes.

If you have a good story, Dale Farm wants to hear it.
