Newry woman Louise Smith has started up a Just Giving page to try and raise £10,000 to help fund vital equipment and comfort measures for local frontline healthcare staff during the Covid 19 Pandemic. It's in response to direct requests from local frontline healthcare staff for urgently needed supplies such as wipeable pillows for patients of Covid 19 and these are being sourced now with over  £2000 raised so far.

Giving her reason for starting the campaign Louise said "Like many of you, I'm concerned for the well-being of my loved ones and our community. Like many of you, I'm in awe of the courage and resilience of our health professionals. Like many of you, I want to support them in whatever way I can."

Louise adds "£2000 is 20% of our target! This is fantastic, thank you for your generous donations. This money is being spent where most needed and we will continue to raise more with your help.

"There is still a problem with both supply and cost of Personal Protection Equipment and other comfort measures for our local frontline healthcare staff during the Covid 19 Pandemic.

"Costs of these urgently needed supplies has increased globally and we must support our frontline healthcare staff.

"We have worked with amazing businesses in Northern Ireland who are sourcing these precious masks and arranging shipping. They are not taking a penny. But we do need more funds for PPE and other vital comfort measures."
