The funeral of Silverbridge man Niall ‘Nidge’ Quinn is taking place around now at St Brigid’s Church, Glassdrummond following his untimely death in Australia.

Niall died 23 January as a result of an accident on the Murray River on the New South Wales Victoria border.

A Go fund me page set up to raise funds for the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust has already far surpassed it’s aim of 10,000 Australian Dollars and sits now at almost 80,000 with 50,000 coming in in under 15 hours. The Trust were involved in helping bring his remains home.

Commenting on the generosity of people Cllr Barra O’Muiri said “This is further proof, if proof were needed, of the deep affection that Niall was held in and the amount of people he touched in his all too short life,” he said.

“Of course this will be hugely appreciated by Niall’s family at this incredibly difficult time, but also by the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust, who have so often come to the aid of so many people in their darkest hours.
