Detectives are appealing for information following a report of an incident this morning, 5 December which left two people with minor injuries.

Detective Sergeant Bell said: “At around 8:30am, it was reported to police that a grey Mazda car was acting suspiciously at a car park in the Church Road area of Carryduff. Upon arrival of police, the male driver was spoken to by officers at the scene before making off at speed from the car park. As the vehicle left the area, it collided with a motorcycle and police vehicle. Thankfully, there were no reports of any injuries.

Officers then initiated a pursuit of this vehicle and gave chase to a male after he ran off from the vehicle on the A1 dual carriageway.

“A short time later, just before 10:20am it was reported that a male had arrived at a house in the Newtown Road area. The male is believed to have entered the house and threatened a female occupant inside the property. The man then made off in the occupant’s black Mercedes car towards the border, with a quantity of jewellery. A male and female occupant received minor injuries and were left badly shaken by their ordeal.

“Enquiries are continuing to establish the circumstances surrounding these incidents and we would appeal to anyone who witnessed either of these vehicles or anyone with any information to contact detectives on 101, quoting reference number 452 05/12/19."
