Senior Men

For the second time in the league this year our senior men and Forkhill ended all-square with Sunday’s game finishing Shane O’Neill’s 0 – 13  Forkhill 1 – 10.

The Shane’s began the game well and were two points up after five minutes, with Paddy Gregory and Paul O’Rourke on target but two points in as many minutes had Forkhill back level. Forkhill then went ahead for the first time with a well worked goal but a point from Mark McCabe and a free from Paul O’Rourke had the home side back to within one. A pointed free from Forkhill and another point minutes later edged three in front again with Eamon McCabe replying for the Shane’s but with the game first-half injury time Forkhill knocked over their fifth point to give them a three-point half-time lead, 1 – 5 to 0 – 5.

The Shane’s made a great start to the second period and three points in the opening ten minutes had the sides level with Ciaran Mackin (2) and David McCabe (1) getting the scores. The Shane’s were on the front foot at this stage and a Paddy Gregory point nudged them in front and their lead increased two minutes later when Paul O’Rourke knocked over a free from a tight angle. The sides then swapped points with O’Rourke on target again for the Camlough side with another pointed free but it was Forkhill who hit the next four points to give them a narrow two-point advantage. With the game now in added time Forkhill looked to have done enough to claim the win but two late frees from David McCabe and Paul O’Rourke earned the Shane’s a hard earned draw: Shane O’Neill’s 0 – 13  Forkhill 1 – 10.

Next up for the senior men is a home game against Clomore next Saturday evening.

U14 Girls

Our U14 girls qualified for the championship after fantastic 7 – 11 to 3 – 5 win over Middletown on Thursday night. Well done to all the girls and the management team on a great win.

U12 Boys

Our U12 boys were in action on Saturday afternoon against Correnshigo and after a slightly slow start they soon got going and played some brilliant football to run fully deserving winners.

U12 Girls

Pearse Ógs were the visitors to Camlough on Sunday to take on our U12 girls. Played in glorious weather conditions both teams served up a great game of football but it was the young Shane’s who ran out the eventual winners. The girls have been training hard and playing well recently and they certainly showed this on Sunday with a fantastic display.

Family & Friends Sponsored Walk

Sunday morning saw the club hold a very successful Family & Friends sponsored walk with over 100 people taking part – players, parents, grand-parents, brothers, sisters, committee members, club members and our friends from Confucius Institute and their Chinese students. The walk left the club shortly after 11.00am and made its way to Derrymore Wood where everyone had a short break for drinks and fruit before heading back to the clubhouse for a BBQ. The club would like to thank each and every person who took part, it was great to see so many young (and old) Shane’s people enjoying themselves. Well done to everyone who helped to organise the event and helped out in any way to make it such a great success.

Best Wishes
