A new provisional temperature record set in Armagh today still has some way to got to break the highest temperature ever recorded in Ireland, way back in 1887!

A temperature of 31.4 Degrees Celsius was recorded today in Armagh, the highest temperature ever recorded in the County.

The highest temperature ever recorded on the island of Ireland was on 26 June 1887 at Kilkenny Castle when it reached a blistering 33.3 Degrees.

The highest temperature ever recorded in the UK was just two years ago in Cambridge when it reached an amazing 38.7 Degrees on 25 July 2019.

Whether records will be broken during this continuing warm spell is the great unknown. Temperatures are expected to peak around 27 degrees in Newry tomorrow with the weather predicted to cool gradually over the next week or so.
