Newry and Mourne Youth Council have launched their Youth and Future Talent Awards (YAFTA)

Newry and Mourne Youth Council launch YAFTAs Youth Awards last week at Newry Youth Resource Centre at Carnbane in Newry.
The event was supported by Margaret Ritchie MP for South Down and other local councillors.
These awards were created by young people for other young people and all aspects of the programme are managed by the youth council. The YAFTAs (Youth and Future Talent Awards) are supported by the youth council’s partnership with Newry and Mourne District Council and their good relations unit.
There are YAFTAs to be awarded in 6 categories: Good Relations, Voice of Young People, Innovation & Creativity, Community Safety, Young Carer and Inspirational Young Person.
Nomination forms are now available from both the youth service and the district council.
Speaking at the event SELB Youth Service Area Youth Worker Maureen O’Gorman said “We are all very proud and excited to launch this programme again. It not only raises the profile of our youth council but it puts the spotlight on the positive work young people are involved in across our district”.
