Write a commentLocal outdoor event management company 26 Extreme have announced that they have successfully bid to manage Oxfam’s flagship fundraising event, Trailtrekker (Saturday, 7th of June).
26 Extreme is a Co Down based company run by Warrenpoint directors Rowan McMahon and Ian Cumming. Established in 2005, the company runs 10 high profile off-road events annually including; the Mourne Way Marathon, Titanic Ultra Marathon, the unique Coast to Coast race and the Women’s Mini Marathon –making it a leader in the outdoor events and off road running sector.
Ian Cumming, Director says: “We’re delighted to have won the event management contract for such a high profile event which attracts hundreds of people. Previously the event was managed by a UK based firm, so this is a significant coup for us and also a good news story for the local economy.”
Trailtrekker, Project manager, Colm Campbell said he was very pleased to work with 26 Extreme, “which had demonstrated great expertise and had brought important local knowledge”.
“26 Extreme have brought a wealth of experience in successfully running off road events and it’s great to be able to tap into that expertise locally. This year we have moved the finish line to Kilbroney Park, Rostrevor so that both Trailtrekker routes take full advantage of the stunning Mourne scenery. We are hoping to attract over 500 people to take part in the event, supporting Oxfam Ireland’s work and walking in solidarity with people affected by severe poverty and injustice around the world,” Colm added.
