St Vincent De Paul in Newry have expressed their thanks following two donations from local groups last week. Both Newry Shamrocks and Newry Pool League raised funds through novel initiatives.
Newry Shamrocks hosted a virtual Hurlathon also raising money for Southern Area Hospice. Newry Pool League has also supported Southern Area Hospice and PIPS Hope and Support this month with their STep Up Challenge.
A representative from St Vincent De Paul thanked both organisations for their support. A spokesperson said "The members of the St Joseph’s Conference of SVP, Newry were humbled to receive two very substantial donations last week. £500 from Newry Pool League and £3500 from Newry Shamrocks.
"A sincere thank you to all the members of both groups who were involved in these generous donations. We are deeply appreciative especially during this very busy time for our charity due to Covid-19."
