94 year olds house burgled while she slept

Police are appealing for information following a burglary in the home of an elderly lady in Warrenpoint on Wednesday. 

The 94 year old lady was resting in bed at the time and the intruders went about ransacking the house. Thankfully she didn't wake through the incident but the thieves stole a sum of cash leaving the house in a mess.

The property is on Avoca Lawn, Warrenpoint and police are asking anyone with dashcam footage from the area around 6-8pm on Wednesday to contact them. 

Inspector John Kerr said “It was reported that sometime between 6.00pm and 8.00pm on Wednesday 30th October entry was gained to the property and a sum of cash was taken.“Enquiries are continuing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the area to contact us"

A separate Burglary attempt in the Cloughmore Park area of Rostrevor also occured between 1830 to 1930 on Wednesday evening and Police believe the two incidents may be connected to the same suspects.
