A Whitecross twist on the classic gameshow Family Fortunes saw almost 400 people attend the Canal Court Hotel on Saturday night as St Killian's GAC wrapped up a month of community fundraising with their fun filled event, seeing twelve local teams battle it out for glory whilst raising funds for an additional football pitch and improved facilities.

St Killian's GAC thanked everyone who supported, took part and helped to organise the event, which saw teams compete in the well-known gameshow format with a distinctly local flavour. The evening marked the finale of an ambitious month-long fundraising programme that truly brought the whole community together, with activities ranging from a fun run and afternoon tea to a dads and lads tournament, bingo, disco, quiz, art class, clothes collection, raffles and guessing games. The teams put in a tremendous effort throughout the campaign.

The event was made possible thanks to main sponsors Tullyherron Farm Feeds Ltd and SP McKeown & Co, alongside a range of other sponsors from local businesses, schools and families. The fundraising comes at an important time for the club, which has seen significant development in recent years with membership increasing, 18 active teams and thriving ladies and underage structures.

Twelve teams took to the stage on the night, including Sharpshooters, Culture Vultures, The Senior Citizens, The Blow Ins, Dads & Lads, The Sideline Sopranos, Champs or Chumps, Udderly Ridiculous, The Blarney Stoners, The Knockout Kings, the Auld Hands and the Wild Card Team.

Udderly Ridiculous were given the Best Dressed award and also made it into the 'Big Whitecross Final', with Eileen McGuinness going head to head against Liam 'Leroy' Smyth from Dads & Lads. In a tight finish, Dads & Lads just pipped their opposition to the post and were crowned winners of St Killian's GAC Family Fortunes.

Organisers thanked all the local businesses who donated raffle prizes, including The Shelbourne Bakery, JD Hunter Supermarket, Country Carpets, Seven Stars Loughbrickland, Winemark Greenbank, Flagstaff Lodge and Red Box VOIP.

Club Chairman Kieran Shields paid tribute to the effort and dedication of everyone involved to make the event such a success. He thanked all the sponsors, those who donated raffle prizes, everyone who attended on the night and supported the fundraising events, and praised all the teams for being such great sports throughout the entire experience.
