Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Glyn Hanna, said the market has become a popular fixture in the Halloween programme.

“Newry Halloween Twilight Market has become one of the highlights of our Halloween programme and a much-loved event for local families and visitors alike,” he said. “It is a fantastic opportunity for people to come together, enjoy a fun-filled evening and support our local traders and performers.”

Cllr Hanna continued: “There will be plenty to keep little witches, wizards and monsters entertained throughout the evening with a range of spooky arts and crafts, Halloween games, face painting and potion-making activities. We are delighted to bring the event back to Newry Variety Market and look forward to welcoming everyone for another memorable Halloween celebration.”

Live entertainment will be provided by The Just Adam Band, and a family Halloween disco will follow, with prizes for the best fancy-dress costumes on the night. Spot prizes will also be handed out throughout the event.

Market traders will serve a selection of street food and sweet treats, while a licensed bar will offer refreshments for adults and families. Artisan stalls will showcase local crafts, gifts and produce, and walkabout characters, spooky surprises and interactive entertainment will be on hand for visitors of all ages.

The market forms part of Newry’s wider Halloween celebrations over the Halloween weekend. A programme of free family-friendly activities will take place throughout the city, including a self-guided Pumpkin Trail, face painting sessions, children’s Halloween movie screenings and walkabout entertainers, along with activities hosted by local businesses and attractions. The city-wide programme is being delivered in partnership with Newry BID.
