Currently later train services into Newry Railway Station aren't served with a link bus for the 5 minute journey into the City to Newry Bus Station. With rail travel becoming increasingly popular Newry.ie asked Translink is there any plan to expand the free bus service between Newry Railway Station and Newry Bus Station to cater for all trains arriving at the railway station. It appears there are no immediate plans to provide extra services.
Sunday is the worst with no service after 17:25 while Monday to Friday the last link service is 19:10. In the absence of the service passengers need to either walk the 2 miles into the city or arrange a taxi or lift. Anyone unfamiliar with the area could easily be caught out, thinking that the station was in the City.
While not replying to our question a Translink spokesperson said that all services are kept under continuing review. At present a connecting bus is provided between Newry train station and Newry Buscentre for all cross-border train services prior to 19:20 Monday to Friday; 19:10 on Saturdays and 17:25 on Sundays.
