Derry born Richard Moore wouldn't see himself as anything other than an ordinary guy, albeit one with an extraordinary inspirational story to tell, taking in the troubles, meeting the Dalai Lama, embracing forgiveness and founding a world wide charity while also taking time to write a best selling book "Can I Give Him My Eyes".

You can join Join Broadcaster Gerry Kelly for "An evening with" in the Canal Court Hotel on Thursday the 19th of June when he will chat to Richard and friends about his remarkable life so far.
Richard who dropped in to Newry today will be joined by John Lenihan aka May McFettridge, The Voice winner Andrea Begley, Ryan Cinnamond, Gaudeamus Chamber Choir and others for this fantastic evening of entertainment.
Shot and blinded when he was ten years old walking home from school in Derry, Richard Moore has overcome adversity, forgiven the soldier who shot him and counts the Dalai Lama amongst his closest friends. Richard went on to form Children in Crossfire, a charity which supports young children caught in the crossfire of poverty.
Richard Moore said, “I am delighted to be coming to Newry to join Gerry Kelly to tell my story and to hear from others like Andrea Begley and Ryan Cinnamond both of whom have inspirational stories to tell. John Lenihan is also a good friend of Children in Crossfire and has been out to our projects in Tanzania as well as getting involved in many of our events at home. He has many hilarious tales to tell especially as his alter ego, May McFettridge. I have a great connection to Newry through both friends and fundraisers and I hope it will be a really entertaining evening with great music and chat.
I would like to thank both The Quays Shopping Centre and The Canal Court Hotel for supporting our local fundraising group in sponsoring the event and all those who have provided raffle prizes.”
The night will take place from 7pm-9pm on the 19th. Tickets are priced at £8 each and are available from Jack Murphy Jewellers or by contacting Gemma Murphy on 07872397280 or Deborah Loughran on 07834101628.
