Write a commentPolice in Newry are appealing for information after a report of burglary at the Friends Meeting House on the Derrymore Road in Bessbrook on Saturday last.
Shortly after 8:50am, it was reported that the front door of the property was damaged. It is believed that the premise was accessed, but nothing is believed to have been taken during the incident. Enquiries are ongoing.
Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to contact police at Ardmore Police Station on the new non-emergency number 101. Newry & Mourne Fews area Councillor Daire Hughes has condemned the attack. The Sinn Fein Councillor commenting after he visited the scene said "This deliberate act of vandalism on the Friends Meeting House here in Derramore Woods is not only an attack on the Quakers and those who fellowship here at the Friends Meeting House but on the entire community. I share the anger of the local Community and hopefully those engaged in this mindless act will be apprehended".
