Irish dancing with a modern twist is probably the best way to describe an event which will take place in Bellinis this coming Friday 27th September when a number of local men,women, girls and boys will take centre stage for a night of Jigs and Reels in aid of Friends of Africa.
The man behind the idea is popular Newry Social worker Barry Traynor who comes from the Meadow area of the City.
Barry is returning to Africa in October to continue the immense work he has started with the street children and every penny raised from Friday night's event will go straight towards the kids Barry works with.
Friday's main event will be the dance competition and the judges will have to narrow down the ten different acts down to just two and at this point a dance off will ensue.
Popular quizmaster Aidan O Rourke will compare the evening which will include a big raffle and an auction prize of a mountain bike coupled with twelve free PT sessions at RM Fitness supplied by Conor Crilly.
Tickets are going fast but can still be obtained through Edel at the Shelbourne on Hill Street or at Grounded Expresso Bar priced at £10 Adult and £5 Kids.
So if you want to see some well known local talent on display and strutting their stuff make your way down to Bellinis and help Barry make a better life for the street kids of Africa.
Doors open at 8 and show starts at 8.30pm.
