As part of Newry’s first “Festival of Water”on Sunday 1st September, the Inland Waterways Association of Ireland Newry and Portadown Branch are hosting the traditional Bath Tub Race on the Canal. This event is open to the entire community, businesses, individuals and clubs alike.If you want to enter a craft in the Bathtub Race but were unsure where to source the materials local businesses have offered their services!
To help encourage young people to apply their knowledge, skills and ideas and enjoy a spectacular day on the Newry Canal, Abbey Event Management, MJM Ltd. and other local businesses have joined forces to supply sets of materials that will be given to local groups to construct crafts. These include 3,500 plastic bottles, glue, paddles, plywood and lengths of timber.
Entries will be judged by MJM Marine Ltd on originality, speed and build quality.
