SPAR will hold the biggest ever Blooming Great Tea Party for Marie Curie this Saturday 16 June from 10am – 2pm aiming to smash last year’s fundraising total of over £30,000. Shoppers across the country can pop in to their local store and donate some change in exchange for a cup of tea or coffee from Barista Bar, as well as an enjoy local traybake or homemade bake from staff in store.
Every penny raised from the tea parties will go towards the palliative care charity in Northern Ireland and will provide vital services throughout every community in Northern Ireland, from overnight nursing care to essential equipment.

Since the partnership between SPAR and Marie Curie began in Northern Ireland in 2017, shoppers and staff have raised more than £100,000.
This year, SPAR has also partnered with some of their key brands to raise even more for the charity; from 11 June – 01 July, Kingsmill and Hovis will donate 10p from the sale of every Kingsmill 800g thick and medium soft white loaf and Ormo six pack pancakes sold in SPAR NI stores, to Marie Curie.
Stephen Gartland, a SPAR retailer whose grandfather was cared for by Marie Curie says he is delighted to be involved in the Blooming Great Tea Party for a second year; “Marie Curie nurses were able to make my Grandfather’s final week much more bearable as he did not want to go into a hospice, he wanted to be at home.
“The nurses were able to come to administer medication to him in those final days so he was at home and at peace. Their care went beyond this, ensuring the whole family was okay and we knew what was going on. They are an incredible charity and their services were invaluable to the family during Grandad’s last days."
