Ti Chulainn in Mullaghbawn is the location for the regional launch of a book exploring the life and influence of former Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness, featuring contributions from prominent political figures and those who knew him personally.

Slieve Gullion Councillor Áine Quinn is organising the Mullaghbawn event at Tí Chulainn Centre on Wednesday 13 October at 7.30pm, bringing the book 'Our Martin: Irish Republican Martin McGuinness' to the heart of South Armagh. The evening will include addresses from Sinn Féin Senator Conor Murphy and Sean Hughes, alongside author Jim 'Flash' McVeigh, who will discuss both McGuinness's life and the creation of the publication.

Councillor Quinn expressed her enthusiasm for hosting the launch in a location with deep community connections to the former political leader. "It's an honour to host the launch of Our Martin here in the heart of our community in Mullaghbawn. This book provides a powerful and intimate insight into the life of Martin McGuinness — a leader, a peacemaker, and a friend to so many in this area," she said.

The councillor emphasised how McGuinness's influence extends beyond his political achievements to encompass his personal qualities and approach to public service. "Martin's legacy continues to inspire generations — not just through his political journey, but through the humanity, humour and honesty he brought to public life. This book tells that story through the words of his family, comrades, and lifelong friends."

Extending an invitation to attendees from throughout the region, Councillor Quinn said the evening was an opportunity for collective remembrance and appreciation. "I warmly invite everyone across South Armagh and beyond to join us for this special evening of reflection, remembrance, and celebration of Martin's life. We're looking forward to hearing from Senator Conor Murphy, Sean Hughes and the Author Jim McVeigh as we honour Martin's story and enduring legacy."

The book itself contains more than 150 rare black-and-white photographs and was compiled with the McGuinness family's full cooperation and backing, offering readers personal perspectives alongside historical documentation.

The launch is open to all and light refreshments will be provided throughout the evening.
