A border handover of a different kind took place in the early hours of yesterday morning when the Olympic Torch took time out from Newry for a brief trip to Dublin taking it through the hands of sporting stars and celebrities alike including Ronnie Dellaney, Sonya O'Sullivan, Ruby Walsh, Henry Shevlin and of course Jedward!
The Flame was passed over the border between Olympic boxers Wayne McCullough and Michael Carruth just before eight o clock yesterday morning.
London 2012 Organising Committee Chairman Sebastian Coe said: 'We are delighted to be taking the Olympic Flame to Dublin.
This gives us an historic opportunity to recognise sporting talent from across the Republic of Ireland.
