Rang a Trí pupils from Bunscoil an Iúir recently raised funds for Bóthar as part of their project “50 Years Ago” where they investigated the happenings of 1963.
While researching 1963, Rang a 3 pupils studied the assassination of John F Kennedy, Martin Luther King’s famous speech “I have a dream”, read novels by their favourite author C.S. Lewis who died in 1963 and completed a project on Newry Credit Union which was founded in 1963.
In keeping with the theme of 50, the pupils set themselves a target of raising £50 for Bóthar. They quickly surpassed their target and were able to present Bóthar with a cheque for £113.
Múinteoir Siobhán said she was very proud of her pupils who had sacrificed treats and pocket money to raise funds for Bóthar.
Pupils from Rang a Trí presented the cheque at Newry Credit Union to Aoibheann Fearon from Bóthar who said she was really impressed with the children’s efforts and was grateful to receive this money as part of their Christmas appeal.
