A new social enterprise has opened at Newry Leisure Centre providing a much needed cafe and catch-up facility.
Café IncredABLE offers a delicious selection of light bites, freshly baked scones, tempting treats, and perfectly brewed tea & coffee seven days a week. The café will give training opportunities for local young people with intellectual/learning difficulties and/or autism in catering and hospitality.
The Café opened last Friday 1 August and every time you make a purchase, you will be helping these young people take the next step towards meaningful employment and a step away from social exclusion. With each cup of tea or coffee purchased, you will not only be making a difference to the lives of these exceptional individuals, but also their carers, guardians and/or familly unit.
Café incredABLE have three other cafes at South Lake, Craigavon, at Banbridge Leisure Centre and at Jethro in Lurgan.
Samantha McCartney, incredABLE's Head of Catering Operations, said: “We are very excited to be opening a Cafe incredABLE in Newry, our very first in this council area. We look forward to welcoming new customers to our social enterprise cafe and raising awareness about the work of incredABLE.
“Social enterprise cafes can make a huge contribution to their local area – our cafes exist to assist young people with a learning/intellectual disability and/or autism achieve their goal of meaningful employment. Not only does this improve their quality of life, but that of their families too."
Samantha added: “We are extremely fortunate to have very dedicated staff who are passionate about assisting these young people on their journey to employment.
“Our social enterprise cafes pride themselves in providing a very high standard of customer service, food and beverages. Our Banbridge, Craigavon and Lurgan cafes have held five-star Food Hygiene Awards since opening their doors.

Newry City Councillors Aidan Mathers, Geraldine Kearns and Cathal King visited it recently describing it as a “fantastic initiative” that promotes inclusion, opportunity, and community spirit.
Councillor Mathers said: “I was delighted to visit the new IncredABLE Café and witness first-hand the brilliant work being done to support people with learning disabilities and autism across the Southern Trust area.
"IncredABLE is a voluntary organisation providing vital social, recreational, and educational opportunities and this café is a shining example of how targeted investment can deliver real, positive change in our communities.
"This space is not only a community hub, but also a platform for empowerment and inclusion. I look forward to supporting this incredible project and visiting again soon.”
