Today was the day when local A Level students heard their results and found out if their University of choice was on offer. Of course it also was a day to catch up with friends and see who's going to the formal too.
From 9am there was a constant stream of students to all of Newry's schools and colleges. At Our Lady's Grammar School Jessica Farthing received two A's and a distinction, ensuring she was accepted for University in Manchester to do IT Management for Business. At St Colman's College sixth year Rory Allen also received 2 A's and is hoping to do something in construction next year.

Stormont Economy Minister Dr Caoimhe Archibald is encouraging students and parents to use the support available from her Department’s Careers Service.
Dr Archibald said: “It’s vitally important that young people receiving their exam results today know that professional, impartial advice is available to help them take the next step in their journey.
“Whatever your results, I want to reassure students and their parents or carers that the Careers Service is here to help. Our advisers have access to the latest labour market information and can provide guidance on a wide range of options, including further education, training, and employment opportunities."
Young people and parents can find useful information on the Careers Service website at www.nidirect.gov.uk.

SRC's Open Campus Event is taking place this year on Friday 22 August from 5pm - 7 pm on the Newry campus.
