Newry City Councillor, Cllr Charlie Casey has asked residents in Rooney’s Meadow to be vigilant about possible burglaries in the area after a gable wall had paint sprayed on it.
Councillor Casey said “On Sunday 6th September a resident of Rooney’s Meadow arrived home and noticed that a large X had been sprayed on her gable wall with yellow paint.
"This has caused huge distress and upset to the resident because of the possibility that her house has been marked out for burglary by some organised gang.
I would ask all residents in the area to be vigilant and look out for their elderly or more vulnerable neighbours. Also I would urge anyone who has experienced similar markings near their homes to share this information with their friends and neighbours.
Cllr Casey added "The PSNI have been notified and have promised to increase patrols in the area.”
