Write a commentA second phase of PEACE IV funding for two projects delivering diversity and good relations qualifications in Newry and Kilkeel has been rolled out by the Clanrye Group. The first project funded under this new phase was launched on Wednesday 4 September at Clanrye Group’s offices on the Quays in Newry, with the second launching in the Nautilus Centre, Kilkeel at the beginning of October.
The project is supported by the European Union’s PEACE IV Programme, managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB).
Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Charlie Casey said, “We are delighted to have Clanrye Group providing the public with accredited diversity and good relations courses.
“The Council is proud of the welcome we give to people from different cultures and backgrounds and it is fantastic that we can learn with, and from, each other.”
The OCN NI Level 2 Award in Diversity and Good Relations will explore diversity within society as well as prejudice and discrimination. The course will run for eight weeks and includes a study trip to Krakow in Poland.
The qualifications have been designed to provide learners with an understanding of the importance of diversity and good relations, helping each person to become more aware of diverse groups and the importance of respect within them. Participants completing the course will gain a better understanding of what is meant by prejudice and discrimination and a better understanding of the value of equal opportunities legislation.

Match-funding for this project has been provided by The Executive Office in Northern Ireland and the Department for Rural and Community Development in Ireland.
