This Saturday 29 April hundreds of people will take to the slopes of the stunning Camlough Mountain for a fundraiser in aid of Newry Gateway Club's 50th Anniversary Celebrations and Special Olympics Ireland World Games 2023.
The Camlough Triangle Walk is organised by Colm Fearon aka Bootsy with Team Dog and Paddy Duffy as well as the Hiking Hens and the plan is to hike up the beautiful Camlough Mountain. There are two routes depending on your fitness and both routes begin and end at Doyles Bar in Camlough.
Registration is open from 8.45am and they plan to start walking at 9.30am. You can also register at endurancecui.active.com . Registration will cost £12 which includes a guided hike, medal and refreshments which will served afterwards in the bar.
The triangle route travels up Gordons Lane and takes in the Rathore Star and the Rathore Cross and is around 6.3km.
A simpler route is to Camlough Mountain only which is a distance of 2km and will take 1.5 hrs approximately.
Team Ireland are competing for Special Olympics Ireland at the 2024 World Games. Any funds raised will help make it possible for our wonderful Athletes to travel to Berlin in 2023 to take part in the World Summer Games.

Organisers point out that this is a self sufficient walk so please bring your own water and snacks, there will be stops along the way at various points of interest.
Wear appropiate clothing, boots or walking shoes if possible and a good idea is to bring a change a change of socks and footware and leave in you car. Jacket, hat, gloves also just in case it gets cold. There will be marshals walking along the route at front and rear and please keep between both.
There will be a short walk brief just before the walk starts. If you carry anything onto to mountain, please take it home.
