A Slieve Gullion candidate for the May local council elections along with her party colleague have expressed concerns regarding a collapsed wall on the Ballynaclosha Road, Silverbridge.
Áine Quinn said “Local families have faced major disruption due to the collapse of the wall on the Ballynaclosha road.
“Sinn Féin has been working with residents since the wall collapsed to keep them updated on the situation and to press DFI to help repair the wall as soon as possible.
“While the repair of this site is admittedly a complex task, the constant delays to the works have left residents feeling more and more frustrated at the situation.
Her colleague, Oonagh Magennis added “The wall had originally collapsed as a result of the anchors for the concrete giving way at the base.
“The oil tanks below the wall require a specialist team to be drained and the nature of the site means that there is a limit to the machinery that can be on site to operate.
“These have complicated the final design and account for some of the delay in getting repair works underway; however this needs to be addressed as soon as possible.
“A section of the road has been closed for almost 3 years now and residents must not face this disruption a minute more than is necessary.
“Sinn Féin will continue to work with both residents and DFI to press the need for the completion of these works for local residents as a priority.
