Buttercrane Shopping Centre is hosting a series of events 10-13 September as part of Iur Cinn Fleadh including a celebration of Irish Food and the world’s first Buttermilk Drinking Time Challenge.
From today until the 13th September the centre will host a photographic exhibition from Columba O Hare entitled, ‘Thirty Years of Trad in Newry and Beyond’.

On Saturday 12th Sept (11 – 4pm) Neil Bradley of Sugar Supper Club presents ‘Trad Irish food’ event with samples, recipe ideas and demos throughout including the World’s First International Buttermilk Drinking Challenge Time Trial at 2.30pm on Saturday afternoon.
Buttercrane Centre Manager Peter Murray said: “This is a great festival celebrating Newry’s strong musical heritage and we’re delighted to support the event and uniquely, be the venue for the World’s First Buttermilk Drinking time challenge.”
Other events include, Newry’s ‘Irish Dancing 4 Fun Troupe’ who will entertain customers on the mall on Sunday 13th September (2-4pm) while trad musicians will entertain passers-by and shoppers with ‘Music on The Quay’ on Sunday afternoon (13th September) and raise funds for the Southern Area Hospice.
