Assistant Director of Healthy Living, Conor Haughey and Head of Indoor Leisure, Kerri McConnell launch the new NMD Be Active Family Membership campaign.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council is encouraging families across the district to get active this autumn with the launch of a new NMD Be Active Family Membership campaign. The initiative has been designed to make fitness and wellbeing more affordable and accessible for families, with unlimited access to leisure facilities at participating centres available for just £49.99 per month.

The membership covers two adults and two children aged between four and 15 years, giving families access to a wide range of activities at participating centres. This includes swimming at Newry Leisure Centre and Down Leisure Centre, whilst adults also get full access to the health suite with spa pools, steam rooms, saunas, heated beds and a variety of fitness classes and fully equipped gyms. Children included in the membership are entitled to a free birthday party every year, with complimentary hall hire available across the council's centres or soft play at Newry Leisure Centre.

Newry, Mourne and Down District Council Chairperson, Councillor Philip Campbell said, "We want to make it easier and more affordable for families across the district to stay active, enjoy time together and build healthy habits that last a lifetime. The new Family Membership has something for everyone - whether that's swimming, the gym, fitness classes or simply having fun together as a family."

The membership is payable by direct debit with no minimum contract, giving families flexibility with their commitment. Members can also manage their bookings quickly and easily through the NMD Be Active App, which is available to download now. Residents can sign up for the Family Membership by visiting any of the participating leisure centres, with proof of address required for each member of the family such as a bank statement, utility bill or school letter.

The council offers an extensive variety of membership options to suit individual needs, whether people want to swim, participate in classes or work out in the gym.
