Council seek Community Safety Wardens

A Tender has been issued by Newry, Mourne and Down District Council for the 'Provision of Community Safety Wardens 2019-20'

The scheme which is run by Newry, Mourne & Down Policing and Community Safety Partnership (PCSP) started in 2014 after a pilot scheme in December 2013 and aims to reduce crime, fear of crime and anti-social behaviour across the entire council area.

The tender submission says "There is evidence of increasing levels of anti-social behaviour across the Newry, Mourne & Down District Council area, with indications of seasonal increases (for example, during the Summer months) and also in a number of urban centres. To address this, the PCSP seeks to provide a Community Safety Warden Scheme across the Council area."

The successful applicant will be expected to Deliver a high visibility directed patrol service from 1 October to 31 March.

Provide 150 hours of Community Safety Warden patrols across the District on a monthly basis and ensure that the Scheme operates across the entire Newry, Mourne & Down District Council area (including the main urban areas of Newry, Downpatrick, Warrenpoint, Newcastle & Kilkeel), and incorporate an element of flexibility to allow immediate response to issues of community concern anywhere across the District.

They also must provide publicly available contact telephone numbers for Wardens for the duration of their shifts, develop relationships with residents, local businesses, local community and voluntary groups, and statutory organisations to increase community confidence and reduce fear of crime and anti-social behaviour.

The available budget for the tender is expected to be £26,500 excluding VAT.
