Write a commentSlieve Gullion Councillor Pete Byrne has expressed his disappointment at the decision not to reduce the speed limit in Culloville but has committed to challenging the current criteria on setting local speed limits.
Cllr Byrne said, “Although focus and resources have shifted to dealing with the coronavirus outbreak, I am continuing to follow up on issues of concern to local people. I am pleased with the progress made to date on implementing new traffic calming measures in Culloville since residents raised the issue more than a year ago. We have already seen new signage erected in the village and in the most recent update I have been informed that a works order has been issued to white lining contractors to complete new markings as agreed last year."
The Slieve Gullion Councillor added “A review of the speed limit has also taken place in conjunction with the PSNI and I am disappointed that the village did not meet the requirements for a reduction in accordance to current criteria on setting local speed limits. I have since written to our local Network Development Engineer to request an outline of the process and the criteria that was used in order to be better equipped to challenge the decision in the near future.”
