A. house on the Skerriff Road in Cullyhanna has been damaged by fire in the early hours of Tuesday morning 19 May. The house was unoccupied at the time.
Newtownhamilton Police are appealing for information following the incident.
The fire is being treated as deliberate Sergeant Reynolds said: “Sometime between 2am and 3am, it was reported that a house had been set on fire in the area. Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service attended and extinguished the fire. Thankfully no one was inside the property during the incident.
“Enquiries are ongoing and at this stage, the fire is being treated as deliberate ignition.
“We are appealing to anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area at the time of the incident to contact police on 101, quoting reference number 434 19/05/20. Alternatively, information can also be provided to the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 which is 100% anonymous and gives people the power to speak up and stop crime.”
Slieve Gullion Councillor Barra Ó Muirí has condemned the arson attack adding that local people are concerned at another arson incident in the area.
