Slieve Gullion Councillor Pete Byrne has said he received assurances from DfI Roads that both Roads in South Armagh will undergo the works, at a meeting with DfI Roads last month.
Byrne said, “The SDLP held a meeting with DfI Roads at the end of November where I raised the many issues on our South Armagh Roads. Having requested work to be carried out on the Cashel Road and the roads connecting to it, I have been given the commitment that the Cashel and Glendesha Roads will undergo resurfacing on the 7th December 2020, finishing by the 18th December.”
“Residents have raised this numerous times with me this year and I am sure this will come as welcome news to both drivers and those who use the route for walking. Both roads will join the 40+ roads in the South Armagh area which have undergone strengthening and resurfacing work in the last year. The SDLP remains committed to ensuring that our rural communities receive its fair share of investment from the Department of Infrastructure.”
