December Theme for Newry.ie Photographer of the Year is 'Night Time'

The Theme for the December round and the final round of the 2022 Newry.ie Photographer of the Year Competition is "Night Time" We want you to let your imagination run riot  for this one. It could be a capture of the lights in the city, maybe a night out in a local Newry venue, a moody street scene with people wandering around, getting the kids ready for bed, an evening walk, a night time routine you have, settling down at the tv, eating your supper around your table, dozing, a beautiful night skyscape ... basically anything that conveys night time.

We will give you a little extra time to get your entry in saying it is the busy Christmas season so the deadline for this round is Midnight on Friday 20 January 2023. 

To Enter

Once you have your masterpiece please email it to npoy@newry.ie by midnight Friday 20 January 2023.

The Rules

1: The decisions of Newry.ie and the judges are final and we won't enter into any correspondence on same.

2: For the competition to take place there must be at least 10 entrants every month.

3: The competition is open to everyone presently living in the Newry area or anyone with a connection to the city regardless of photographer status, skills or equipment used. The photographs need to be taken in the Newry area.

4: Your submission must be your own work. You don't have to enter every month to win but it certainly gives you a better chance.

5: Just ONE entry on each monthly topic must be submitted as a jpeg by email to npoy@newry.ie . You must include a title for the photograph along with your name and address. (Address is just for reference and not for publication) Images must not contain any signature/ watermark to identify the image.

6: By entering you give us the permission to use your images on Newry.ie social media channels and theNewry.ie website (in connection with the competition only)

7: Entries must be taken after the monthly assignment has been announced, ie a photograph you have already taken will not qualify.

8: Your entry must NOT be published anywhere else until after the winners have been chosen for the month you have entered. If it is published elsewhere you will be disqualified for that month

9: Photographs should not be overedited, ie sky replacements etc.

10: Entrants will be published on the Newry.ie Website and social media pages from 1st day of the month for one week for the purpose of judging. The Monthly winners will be decided by the Public and a judging Panel. 40% of the vote will be from the public, decided from the number of likes given to each entrant via our social media channels and website, where they will appear for a week. The other 60% will come from the Judges. The overall Photographer of the Year Award will be decided from the monthly totals of the public and thejudges.

11: Newry.ie reserves the right to make changes to the competition if deemed necessary during the competition or to cancel competition if the required ten entrants a month don't arise.
