Write a commentDeli Lites Gourmet Cafes have presented £20,000 to four local charities following a fundraising drive which began to mark their 20th anniversary.
Deli Lites earmarked the ambitious target in May 2014 and have successful reached £20k though events and initiatives in the Newry and Warrenpoint stores.
The money was raised through charity scratch cards; a special Curry event in the Quays and a ‘Giving Day’ in the Newry and Warrenpoint cafes.
The nominated charities which will benefit from the fundraising are the Cancer Fund for Children; Special Olympics; The Diabetic Association and Macmillan Cancer.
Having first opened in Monaghan Street in 1994 by the Reel sisters, today Deli Lites brand is still a family business employing over 250 staff across the wholesale division and five gourmet sandwich outlets.
Siobhan Connolly said: “On behalf of my sisters and our family, I would like to thank our loyal customers and our staff for their support in delivering such a fantastic fundraising total for these local charities.
“We set out to mark our anniversary by doing something tangible for the local communities who have supported us over the years and we’re very proud to donate this £20,000, on behalf of our customers and staff to these very worthy organisations,” Siobhan added.
