Sheepbridge Interiors based on the Cloghanramer Road just off the Belfast Road in Newry has been destroyed in an overnight fire.
At the height of the blaze 56 fire crew were in attendance with six pumping appliances from Newry, Warrenpoint, Rathfriland and Banbridge as well as specialist appliances from Belfast and Lisburn. Local residents were advised to keep their windows closed.
The operation has since been scaled back with two fire appliances, supported by a high volume pump remaining at the scene.
In a post on their Facebook Sheepbridge Interiors said they were devastated beyond belief. "Our family and friends all in this business together, destroyed by fire. Thoughts go out to my staff, my landlord, my business neighbours and our fantastic customers. Massive Thanks to the Fire Brigade, the pride of our country."
The business added that it is early days and that they will need time to process what has happened but that all existing orders will be fulfilled.
