SDLP Camlough Councillor John Feehan has said the planting of a suspicious device today on a slip road between Camlough and the Belfast-Dublin motorway has resulted in serious congestion for local people and those trying to by-pass Newry City.
“People in Camlough, Newry City and those making journeys on the new motorway are facing a traffic nightmare due to the selfish and destructive actions of those responsible for planting a device on the slip road.
“This is particularly causing major difficulties for people in Camlough who are unable to go about their daily business. “People in this area are fed up with this activity and want to move on and feel safe in their community. South Armagh endured enough hardship over the years due to the actions of the IRA and people here deserve to live in peace. “I strongly appeal to anyone with information about this device to please co-operate with the police so that those responsible can be put behind bars.”
