The night could not possibly have got any better at tonight's Abbey Christian Brothers Grammar School production of Frankenstein the Musical - or at least that's what we thought. This was an extremely competent, polished and professional production from start to finish, but the encore left hardly a dry eye in the house!
Prinicpal Sean Sloan got up to speak when the production finished and announced that school pupil Daniel Greer was 'here' tonight too, and indeed he was - albeit virtually, with the help of his brother James and a cute little robot.
Daniel was diagnosed leukaemia in June 2022 and just a few weeks ago he received a stem cell transplant in Bristol. Daniel's illness led to a massive local community appeal asking people to join the bone marrow register.
Mr Sloan explained that tonight's production was dedicated to Daniel and indeed he couldn't have witnessed a better production, except of course the production when he returns and participates in the musical end, being a member of the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland.
This evenings production was incredible from start to finish. The cast were off the scale with their skill. Coupled with that the musical score and the sound and lighting could just not be bettered.
