Domestic Electricity prices are set to go down.

Commenting Councillor McAteer said: “This reduction is a welcome move from our largest energy company to reflect the falling prices on the international market and begin to restore trust between consumer and provider.

“While this announcement may have been better timed before the energy intensive winter month’s it is still better late than never.

“I hope other electricity and gas companies can now step up to the mark, reduce their prices and open the way for a much more competitive local energy market. Consumers can help promote competition between suppliers by shopping around to take advantage of falling prices.

“It is important that the public get the best deal on their energy so they are better prepared to deal with the rising cost of living and impending cuts in public spending.”
