Evora Hospice is inviting people across the community to remember loved ones this Christmas through its annual Light Up a Life appeal, which offers families the chance to dedicate a light on the hospice's Christmas tree in memory of someone special.
The main Light Up a Life ceremony will take place on Thursday 11 December at 7.30pm in the grounds of the hospice at Courtney Hill, Newry. The special evening will include Christmas carols, warming refreshments and the illumination of the hospice's Christmas tree. The event is open to everyone, not just those who have been touched by the hospice's care, but to all who wish to remember someone special this festive season.
Louise Stewart, Hospice Inpatient Services Manager, said: "Christmas is often a time when the absence of a loved one is felt even more deeply. Through this special event, we offer a space for people to come together — to remember, reflect, and honour those they hold close in their hearts. It's a gentle reminder that although they may no longer be with us, their presence is still very much felt especially at this time of year, many families find real comfort from that."
Evora Hospice will also host two other community events. The Dungannon ceremony will take place on Wednesday 26 November at 10.00am at Mid Ulster Council Office, whilst the Craigavon ceremony will be held on Friday 5 December at 12.00pm at the Civic Centre.
The Light Up a Life appeal is made possible thanks to the generous support of Gordons Chemists and Killowen Contracts Limited. Each light shines as a symbol of remembrance, love and celebration for someone dearly missed.
